THE NEED IS GREAT & THE TIME IS NOW!.

ACCORDING TO GEORGE BARNA’S RESEARCH…

Those younger than 12, have a 32% chance of accepting Christ.

This decreases to 4% chance if you’re a teen, and then up to 6% chance as an adult.

It is crucial to reach them at a young age.

But just leading them to the Lord and/or taking them to Sunday School will not produce a guarantee!

- 70% of churchgoing children/adolescents stop going to church after 18

- They need more than just 26-52 hours of Christian training a year!

- To counteract thousands of hours of exposure to media & negative influences!

They Need More!

More, while their hearts are soft & open to become CHAMPIONS - lovers of God & others!

More from those who are with them daily!

CHILDREN DO NOT HAVE A JUNIOR HOLY SPIRIT!

BUT HAVE THE SAME HOLY SPIRIT AS WE ADULTS, SO THEY CAN BE EQUIPPED TO BE SPIRITUAL CHAMPIONS IN THE LORD.

Champions need deep roots…PARENTS are

the key and are important in….

HELPING TO ground THEM in the meat of the Word, experience His presence, equipped to operate in the supernatural.

CHILDREN NEED PARENTS/GUARDIANS TO TAKE ON THE PRIMARY JOB OF EQUIPPING THEM TO BE CHAMPIONS WHILE THE BODY OF CHRIST COMES ALONG SIDE FOR SUPPORT.

It is possible! Others have done it & so can you!

Go to the Tab “How to Begin” or for more details, click the tab “Topics P-W”,  then “Parenting/Discipling” and you will find resources to help support you in raising SUPERNATURAL SPIRITUAL CHAMPIONS! You are the Key! See also Revolutionary Parenting below.

There are never any guarantees when it comes to raising children in the Lord, but if you follow Biblical principles for equipping & training your child, you have been obedient & the rest is in God’s hands!

The vision

Revolutionary Parents!

Revolutionary Parents is a term taken from George Barna’s book, Revolutionary Parenting. (www.george.barna.com) Read below to discover the research about parents with similar parenting styles who were able to raise their children to be SPIRITUAL CHAMPIONS, ones who became passionate adults for God.

What the interviews of the young adults & their parents uncovered showing what revolutionary parents had in common:

1)      These parents used the Bible as their guide for measuring the impact of their parenting style rather than adopting acceptable cultural norms or adopting trial and error parenting.

2)      Had family faith experiences, had a Biblical world view,  ie as things came up, they looked up scripture and prayed together to address these issues.

3)      They took seriously the Jewish mindset and lifestyle found in Deut 6:4-9 loving God, teaching His truths diligently to their children incorporating this into every aspect of their lives, taking every opportunity to teach and train Biblical principles (when you rise up, sit, walk, lie down etc)– doing nothing less.

4)      These parents recognized their parenting job was their most important work with other jobs being secondary, opposite of Western culture – parenting usually  works around jobs.

5)      These parents had 1 parent stay at home, fighting cultural norms, very difficult.

6)      They felt that they were the dominant spiritual mentor to their children, seeing the church as secondary.

7)      Spent 90-120 minutes of individual time with their children daily, taking time to build relationships (typical family spends 15 minutes).

8)      100% were highly concerned with developing Godly character, for example, prioritizing the showing of love rather than just winning or what you can accomplish.

9)      Felt praying daily together was important as well as reading the Word, doing so at least 2x a week (reading verses or Bible studies), worshipped regularly at home together & part of a local church…. (only 1 in 10 Christian parents pray with their children daily).

10)      Parents worked hard personally to grow spiritually, which young adults reported impacted their spiritual walk with the Lord.

11)      83% set tangible and measurable goals for their children, holding them accountable, being their coach.

13)      Prayed diligently for their children, especially for their salvation and any decisions related to them.

14)      Began when children were a very young age.

15)      They took all of this seriously, recognized that there are no guarantees, but they believed doing less can produce failure.

So as a parent or guardian, if you

are challenged by any of these principles, I encourage you to incorporate any or all for your family. If you are unable to incorporate some due to time & finances, just do your best, even one change can make a difference. There are no guarantees, but according to Barna, doing nothing will certainly not help your child to be strong and leave them vulnerable to the world.

THE KEY: PARENTS

EQUIPPING & TRAINING CHILDREN!

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:4-7 NKJV

Training up a child is not just teaching or taking them to Sunday School, it is so much more!

Dictionary definition: To teach a person or animal a particular skill or behavior through practice and instruction over a period of time.

In the Jewish culture as reflected in Deuteronomy above, we can see how they incorporated this kind of training in their every day lives. Parents first incorporated these truths in their own lives and passed them onto their children. Children who see Jesus lived out in their parents, will have more of a tendency to do the same!

This type of training reflects a lifestyle of taking and creating opportunities on a daily basis to teach the Word of God and nurture a love relationship with God.

Training up Champions! You are the main trainer God placed in your child’s life, you are so important!

TRAIN UP A CHILD:

In “Raising a Temple, A Mother’s Guide to Training Godly Kids” by Lori Jane Hensley, she breaks down training in three steps:

1.     Teach: instruction about what is expected

2.    Train: an activity with coaching, practice

3.    Trust: blessing or discipline. Either positive or negative reinforcement of the expectation. Never trust before teaching and training.

She goes on to explain that the 3 key areas to train up a child are spirit, soul and body.  And that “we are preparing the heart of the child for the Holy Spirit.

Then after the child chooses to believe, as parents, we continue to train and mentor them.”

She also says that “Weeds grow without training. Fools grow without understanding and discernment.  Discernment comes from training.”

She emphasizes the importance of starting early to develop and know the difference between right and wrong and the importance of consistency.
